latest projects: Waveform

This project was for a couple who had lived in their home for nearly a decade and were ready to make the kitchen their own. They love to travel, collect art, and host friends and family, so the space needed to feel expressive but grounded — a place for cooking, gathering, and showcasing the artistry they’ve brought back from their journeys.

The old kitchen felt cramped and dated, not at all aligned with their taste. Our goal was to give them something modern, fresh, and tailored, while working within some important constraints: the floor plan and appliances stayed the same, and we worked within a tight timeline.

The space before the transformation: Pony wall was also removed, and we added a waterfall countertop.

The centerpiece quickly became the Numi wave mural by Stone Impressions. Sourced with the help of Unique Stone Imports. The clients fell in love with it, and we placed it above the cooktop so it could act as both focal point and artwork. Around it, we layered materials that felt precise but warm. Alder cabinetry, built by Sherman’s Builders with a custom stain, brings depth and natural character. The backsplash is glazed ceramic tile from Valsecchia Ceramica’s Candy Collection in Sage, sourced through San Diego Marble and Tile — its subtle green tone adds rhythm and softness.

Stone Impressions’ Numi Mural served as the perfect focal point, and point of reference for the concept of the kitchen.

Denali Quartzite from MSI Surfaces grounds the palette with natural movement. We kept the existing lighting, but updated details with a Kohler Crue faucet and Emtek Modern Edge Pulls in matte black. Together, the mix creates a kitchen that feels modern and personal without losing warmth.

The result is a space that flows with the way this couple lives — layered, intentional, and full of character. It supports quiet mornings, big dinners with friends, and the everyday moments in between.

If you’re thinking about creating a home that reflects your own story, I’d love to schedule a time to discuss your vision.
